Sewer Bills

The sewer bills are sent out semi-annually on January 1 and July 1. Some large commercial accounts are billed quarterly due to the amount of their bill. If you sell or purchase a property with City sewer, please notify the Sewer Billing Department so our records can be updated at 406-552-6119 or 552-6106.


Pay your sewer bill online. We now have a dedicated phone line for credit card sewer payments 406-552-6125. It is only operational during normal business hours Mon-Fri 8-5 pm. We accept Visa or MasterCard credit/debit cards for payment by phone.There is no extra fee to use a credit/debit card. Please mail check or money order payments to: City of Missoula, Utility Billing Dept. P.O. Box 5388, Missoula, MT 59806-5388. Make checks payable to City of Missoula.

Sewer Rates increase became effective January 1, 2018. Sewer Rate changes are as follows:

For sewer use classifications 200, 300, 400, and 500, there is a minimal charge of $68.76 for 300, 400, and 500 is used to calculate the rate for six months. The administrative fee of $6.89 is for the fixed costs of billing sewer accounts, account maintenance, and the ongoing fixed costs at the City Public Works Wastewater Treatment Division facility.

Past Due Sewer Use Fees

Past due sewer use fees are levied pursuant to Section 7-13-4309 Montana Code Annotated. Sewer charges prior to July 1 of each year that are unpaid by August 15 will be levied as a tax against the property where the sewer service was furnished. Per State law, a city may, in addition to pursuing the collection of sewer assessments as a tax, bring suit in a court of competent jurisdiction to collect the amount.
