Walk With A Doc

Meets Tuesdays, Feb. 14 – May 30, 12pm

Join us for a weekly 2-mile loop along the Milwaukee Trail, starting at the cross of the trail on Catlin St. Parking available at the Salvation Army, Westside Lanes, and The Good Food Store.  Map

According to the American Heart Association, walking has the lowest dropout rate of any physical activity. Think it doesn’t do any good? Think again. Walking is low impact; easier on the joints than running. It is safe – with a doctor’s okay – for people with orthopedic ailments, heart conditions, and those who are more than 20% overweight. In addition, research has shown that you could gain two hours of life for each hour of regular exercise!

Missoula Walk with a Doc is for everyone interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle. What better way to spend your Tuesday lunch hour than on your feet making strides to improve your health?

Each program begins with a 15-min. “Doc talk,” presented by a local physician, specialist or UM professor/researcher. The Milwaukee Trail is maintained during the winter; no special gear is required, and all level of abilities are welcome. No pre-registration necessary, but participants will be asked to sign a waiver on site, prior to initial participation.

Complicated Contra Dance

with the Missoula Folklore Society

This series takes experienced contra dancers on a journey through some unique and challenging contras. Each week the instructors will guide participants through these dances for a fun evening of dancing. Prior contra dancing experience required. Partners not required.

 7-8 pm, doors open at 6:45 pm
 At Missoula Senior Center ballroom, 705 S Higgins Av.
 $30 per couple or $15 single*

*Special note for Contra classes: Please bring clean, indoor, soft-soled shoes to dance in. Outdoor shoes and heels can damage the ballroom floor.
